2003 Firefly Open Results and Report

 
The Firefly is one of the original classes sailed at South Staffs and as such has a long tradition at the club. They are used as a junior training boat as a step from Junior racing into full adult series, giving younger members a chance to hone their boat handling skills in a truly responsive boat.
The new Rondar boats are inexpensive and in addition to the 2 club owned training boats there are 7 in private hands. This does not mean that you have to have a brand new boat to be competitive - in fact until recently F935 was regularly winning races and the introduction of the Mark IV wooden conversion has brought a new lease of life to the class.
Membership of the class association costs £18.00 per year for which you get a regular bulletin, keeping you up to date with all things to do with the Firefly and a discount on new sails if ordered through the association. Membership details can be found at the class website (see above) or an application form can be downloaded below.
