Sailing Courses

General

The level 1/2 course is aimed at both members and prospective members and will be run in two sections. The first section is a level 1 course that will run on 5 Wednesday evenings in the spring or early summer. The second section will be a level 2 course run in 3 Saturday sessions in early Autumn. In between the two formal courses students should practice their sailing skills and will be able to take advantage of our Wednesday training evenings. RYA logbooks will be provided and RYA certificates will be awarded on successful completion of the course.

RYA Level 1 and Level 2 Courses

Start to sail course.
This course is aimed at an adult audience, to give a basic knowledge of sailing and a capability to sail a dinghy in light winds without an instructor. The course will be run in two sections and is available to members and non members. The first section is a level 1 course which will run on 5 Wednesday evenings in the spring or early summer. The second section will be a level 2 course run on 2 Saturday sessions. In between the two formal courses students should practice their sailing skills and will be able to take advantage of informal training on Wednesday evenings.

Capsize drill

This is an essential part of the course and will take place on the fifth Wednesday of the level 1 sessions. It is a good idea to beg or borrow a wet suit for this occasion but is not essential.

Wednesday evenings: 23rd April, 30th April, 7th May, 14th May, 21st May
Time: 6.30 to 10.0pm (approx)
Structured Practice: Wednesday evenings to suit from June to August
Level 2:-
Saturdays: 12th July, 19th July
Time: 9.30 to 4.00pm (approx)
Cost: £75 Members £150 Non-members

Time: 6.30 to 10.00pm (approx)
Structured Practice: Thursday evenings to suit from July to August

This will be presented as an ongoing series of structured practice sessions throughout the summer on Wednesday evenings.

 RYA Seamanship Skills

Saturday sessions in July, September and October to be announced if there is demand for this course.
